Notice:
Information for Port of Freeport.
The Normal scheduled dredging for August in the Port of Freeport has been
cancelled by Army Corp of Eng., Due to funding.
We have had some inquires requesting if this will affect the draft of
vessels entering the Port.
Pilots are advising operations will continue as normal, however pilots
will continue to monitor situation and if the situation becomes a a issue
they will send a Letter out to all agencies but expect it will be late
summer or early fall for a noticeable change in depth.
Pilots last inbound vessel was check with under keel clearance and they
have plenty of water in the middle of channel at this time.
However shoaling may exist along the channel sides. Due to Army corps
releasing water from Brazos River into the channel.
However if Shoaling becomes a issue Funding can be requested as emergency
funding from the Government.
