A slow moving upper level disturbance will bring periods of
showers and thunderstorms to the region today. Some of the rain
will be locally heavy and minor flooding will be possible. Some of
the stronger storms could produce a brief funnel cloud, frequent
cloud to ground lightning and wind gusts around 45 mph.

The National Weather Service in Houston/Galveston has issued a
* Flash Flood Watch for a portion of southeast Texas...including
the following counties...Brazoria...Chambers and Galveston.
* Until noon CDT today
* Antecedent wet conditions from heavy rainfall over the past 24
hours and additional heavy rainfall this morning. 4 to 7 inches
of rain fell along the coast yesterday and short range models
suggest another 4 to 5 inches of rain possible along the coast
this morning.
* Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to
cross safely. Vehicles caught in rising water should be
abandoned quickly. If your vehicle stalls...abandon it and seek
higher ground immediately. Rapidly rising water may engulf your
vehicle and its occupants and sweep them away. Move to higher
ground.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead
to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation.
