.SYNOPSIS FOR HIGH ISLAND TO MATAGORDA SHIP CHANNEL OUT 60 NM...

Moderate to strong north northeast winds will gradually diminish

today and tonight. High pressure will move east of the region

allowing onshore winds to resume by Thursday night and persist

into the weekend. The threat of sea fog may return to the area

Friday. The next front should move into the area late Sunday.

Effective October 24th, 2017

The dredging of the Houston Ship Channel between beacons 66 and 72 has been completed.  The 42’ restriction to Exxon has been lifted. The HSC is good for vessels with a draft fresh water of 45’ up to Exxon.  The HSC from Exxon to Shell still has a 41’ draft restriction.  The contract for this portion of the channel has been let and work should begin in the next few days.<span-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">

Barbours Cut channel has a 44’ restriction and the Bayport channel has a restriction of 42’ and greater is daylight restricted, two tractors Pilot’s discretion.<span-size:11.0pt;font-family:"Calibri",sans-serif">

<span-size:10.0pt;line-height:105%;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The ACOE project draft for the TXCSC is 45’00 FW at MLT from the GB BUOY to Valero Dock # 42, the channel above project draft is 40’00 FW at MLT.  The length on the final approach from the Houston, Galveston, Texas City tri-channel split is approximately 6 miles, the width is approximately a 400 ft bottom, the Turning Basin is approximately 4,200 ft long and 1,200 ft wide with a maximum deep draft of 45 ft FW at MLT, and is navigable day or night with no air draft restrictions.  Only TX City Docks with 45’00” maximum deep draft at MLT are TC # 11, 12, 41, & 42
