Subject: New Draft Limitation in the Houston Ship Channel

Hello All:

Due to shoaling in the Bolivar Roads area of the Houston Ship Channel the Houston Pilots are limiting the maximum allowable freshwater draft to 44 feet.

If you already have a vessel bound for Houston with over 44 feet we will accommodate the arrival with a suitable tide level of at least +1 on the tide gauge.  Please let me know as far in advance for any over 44’ arrivals.

Should you have any questions please contact me.

Sincerely

Captain Mark Mitchem
