A reminder as we enter Fall 2018, strong cold fronts as they arrive the Texas Gulf Coast will generally push out 1 – 3 feet of water out of Galveston Bay.  Maximum deep draft vessels cold be delayed transiting the Houston Ship Channel until the cold front and high pressure move off the coast and water moves back into the bay.

Following from Captain Mitchem / Presiding Officer Houston Pilots

Removal of 44' draft restriction in the Houston Ship Channel

Hello All:

The dredging between buoys 11/12 and 9/10 in Bolivar Roads has been completed.

The maximum allowable fresh water draft for Houston is 45’ as of August 1, 2018.

Sincerely

Captain Mark Mitchem
