PCT Minutes

Update from today’s call:

NWS:  Dense fog at the moment.  Worse than yesterday, which was not expected due to the higher winds.  Probably looking at 11 am to 2 pm improvement.  Should be visibility improve a lot later in the afternoon.  Probably looking at patchy fog due to higher winds, including small craft advisories, which will help limit development.  Will have fog, but not quite this dense.  A few storms in the morning through late afternoon on Wednesday.  Fog may be back Thursday morning.  Frontal boundary coming through on Thursday, but until then, might allow some fog to develop.  Then the threat ends through at least Saturday.  Houston Pilots:  Moved 26 inbound, 41 sailings and 2 inner harbor shifts.  27 arrivals, 12 sailings, and 3 shifts pending.  Plan to focus on assigning ships to start moving outbound around Noon, and 2-way traffic later in the afternoon.Gal-Tex Pilots:  Caught up with backlog yesterday and overnight.  7 total pending as of today, with 1 daylight restricted.Brazos Pilots:  7 moves yesterday.  Have 1 sailing and 1 arrival on the books at the moment for today.

No call planned for tomorrow.

.SYNOPSIS FOR HIGH ISLAND TO MATAGORDA SHIP CHANNEL OUT 60 NM...

Dense sea fog continues to linger and will slowly thin through the

early afternoon. Onshore winds will strengthen this afternoon with

a peak at advisory levels tonight through Wednesday morning. A

line of showers and storms may move through Wednesday afternoon in

association with a weak frontal passage. This boundary passage

will swing winds westerly and end any sea fog threat. A stronger

cold front is expected to arrive Thursday afternoon with colder

air in the fronts wake strengthening northerlies on Friday.
