Subject: RE: PCT Call for storm system
Update from today’s conference call:
NWS: Optimistic that most of the models showing landfall between Lake Charles and New Orleans sometime Friday morning to Friday afternoon. Very minimal impact for us, but possibly
some slight swells depending upon how quickly it ramps up. USCG: Decisions were made last night to set Port Condition Whiskey due to the uncertainty with the tracking of the vessels. Based on the latest info, the plan is to remain at
Whiskey for now unless something more is needed. ACOE: No dredging operations underway. Survey assets are available if needed.VTS: Will monitor weather and close anchorages if needed. eATONS have been activated by District 8 (For those unfamiliar, eATONS allow the agencies to electronically provide ATON
locations on the moving map navigational devices. These are used as they are locked to a long/lat point. These do not have the issue of being blown off-station, and can provide channel markings after the storm passes.)Port Arthur: Have implemented X-Ray, but plan to remain there unless something changes.Houston Pilots: If the storm does shift westward, will focus on getting vessels with high sail area out first.
Overall, since they feel the path is now getting a bit clearer, it seems business will be “business as usual” for us. For now, the PCT will not meet tomorrow unless conditions change and the storm path shifts our way.
Thanks,

Subject: PCT Call for storm system
Good evening. The Coast Guard has called a PCT call for tomorrow at 0900. I’m sure it is mainly to discuss what the latest is with the storm system and do a bit of pre-planning prior to it potentially going ashore (wherever that happens
to be). I’m sure we’ll be asked to pass along any information on what to expect, pre-planning you should be doing, etc. We are not prioritizing anything at this point as things are pretty much business as usual (although that is likely to change as this
thing gets closer, even if it doesn’t make landfall here). I am also attaching the MSIB that came out yesterday in case you haven’t received it yet.
More to follow after the call tomorrow morning.
Thanks,
JAMES PRAZAK
