Synopsis for High Island to the Matagorda Ship Channel out 60

nautical miles including Galveston and Matagorda Bays

826 AM CST Sun Feb 16 2020

.SYNOPSIS FOR HIGH ISLAND TO MATAGORDA SHIP CHANNEL OUT 60 NM...

After a stretch of continued swell kept seas somewhat elevated,

waves late tonight are beginning to subside to become more in line

with the light winds. A brief offshore wind is beginning to

develop, but should return to onshore by tonight. Areas of fog  are

occurring with visibility falling to 2 miles or less in the

nearshore waters and into the bays. Expect this to continue for

large chunks of the time through Tuesday. There may be enough mixing

to allow for improvement during the afternoons, but fog should be

expected to return in the evenings until a cold front  crosses the

region early Wednesday. Beyond the frontal passage, expect moderate

to strong offshore flow through Friday.
