Port of Houston status:<span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">The port of Houston (public and private terminals) are operating normally.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">The Houston Pilots moved slightly more ships than average yesterday.

 

 

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Updates to the Houston port region best practices guidelines are in progress and should be released soon.

·     Sector Houston-Galveston<span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333"> is requesting all vessel Masters complete an attestation letter regarding the health of their crew.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">The Port Bureau’s members-only monthly vessel movement report covering the ports of Texas will be released by Monday. If you are not a Port Bureau member and you are interested in receiving this report, please email membership@txgulf.org to learn how to join.

Federal/state/agency updates:<span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">On a call with CISA on Thursday, they provided updates on how PPE is being distributed.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Rumor: PPE is being confiscated at Customs to go to the National Stockpile

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Answer 1: The only products confiscated were counterfeit or did not meet federal guidelines as is standard practice.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Answer 2: Some distributors have asked if there are urgent needs for their products. CISA is directing those companies to hotspots where PPE for medical professionals is urgently needed and to the National Stockpile which is almost empty. CISA estimates that of the distributors redirecting PPE, about 50% is still going to the original destination. CISA urged everyone to be in contact with their state emergency management organization for PPE availability. Texas Dept. of Emergency Management is here.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">CDC released guidelines for truck drivers in New York, which local drivers may find helpful. The BC Trucking Association (Canada) has another set of best practices.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">A multitrillion dollar infrastructure bill is being discussed in Washington.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">President Trump is expected to meet with oil executives today to discuss ways to help the industry.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">April 2: US Coast Guard issued a national MSIB to remind vessel and facility owners or operators that they must ensure the availability of response resources remain within stipulated response times in accordance with 33 CFR § 154 and 33 CFR § 155.
