·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">The port of Houston (public and private terminals) are operating normally.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">The Houston Pilots moved an average number of ships yesterday.

 

 

·     National Weather Service<span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333"> reports a dense fog advisory until 9 am. A cold front will increase rain chances this afternoon through tonight with the threat of strong thunderstorms possible this evening. Expect increasing offshore flow tonight in the wake of the front. Winds will strengthen and turn easterly Friday. A second cold front moves through Sunday followed quickly by another colder and stronger front early Monday.

Federal/state/agency updates:<span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">April 8: CISA published a joint advisory with the UK National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) alerting individuals to malicious cyberattacks related to COVID-19. The advisory includes links to articles discussing steps individuals can take to avoid these attacks. Some of the threats observed are:

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Phishing, using the subject of coronavirus or COVID-19 as a lure,

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Malware distribution, using coronavirus- or COVID-19- themed lures,

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Registration of new domain names containing wording related to coronavirus or COVID-19, and

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Attacks against newly—and often rapidly—deployed remote access and teleworking infrastructure.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">April 8: CDC released interim guidance for implementing safety practices for critical infrastructure workers who may have had exposure to a person with suspected or confirmed COVID-19. CDC advises that critical infrastructure workers may be permitted to continue work following potential exposure to COVID-19, provided they remain asymptomatic and additional precautions are implemented to protect them and the community.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">April 8: FEMA and CBP issued a joint statement regarding the Defense Production Act on PPE. CBP will detain shipments of the PPE specified in the President’s Memorandum while FEMA determines whether to return the PPE for use within the United States; to purchase the PPE on behalf of the United States; or, allow it to be exported.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">April 7: FEMA’s Supply Chain Stabilization Task Force released its four-prong approach to sourcing PPE and other critical supplies: preservation of current supplies, acceleration of industrial manufacturing, expansion of manufacturing, and appropriate allocation of resources.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">FEMA released best practices on ensuring truck drivers have adequate access to meals, showers, and rest in light of gas stations and restaurants closing.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">April 9: The Department of Labor announced another 6.6 million jobless claims last week, bringing the three week total to over 16 million claims. Texas has 313,832 claims last week.
