Federal/state/agency updates:<span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">On a conference call with CISA Thursday, Damon Penn, Assistant Administrator of the Response Directorate made these comments:

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">There are 56 disaster declarations that they are responding to (50 states, 5 territories, 1 district).

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Due to the scale of the response, the current response is organized by task force, a departure from the usual way of organizing.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">The U.S. alone is consuming a year’s worth of the world’s PPE every 3 weeks. FEMA is working is inject about 19 million cloth face coverings into the market for use by critical infrastructure workers who do not need medical-grade face coverings.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">AirBridge has been helpful in accelerating PPE supply distribution that would normally be imported by ships. The first of the PPE shipments that were shipped waterborne are due to arrive in the U.S. within the next week, so the supply of PPE should increase somewhat.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Regarding hurricane season, it remains to be seen how or if FEMA would stand up an additional National Response Coordination Center. Usually disaster responses are about managing resources, but right now, it is about managing shortages.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Hobby School of Public Affairs at University of Houston published a study on the impact of the U.S.-China trade wars on the Houston economy.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">Congress passed another $484b stimulus bill yesterday, bringing the total stimulus amount to around $2.4 trillion.

·     <span-size:9.0pt;font-family:"Arial",sans-serif;color:#333333">The Texas Railroad Commission formed a Blue Ribbon Task Force for Oil Economic Recovery to assist the industry in saving jobs and enabling operators to survive the downturn.
